Tenets of Faith Doctrine

1. The Bible, the Word of God is to be held supreme in all matters. The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. It is a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason. (II Timothy 3:15-16; I Peter 2:2)

2. We believe in one eternal God, the source and goal of life, who exists as three persons in the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Mark 12:29; Isaiah 43:10; Matthew 28:19)

3. We believe that salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone, to whom we must respond with repentance, faith, and obedience. The inward evidence to the believer of his/her salvation, is the direct witness of the Spirit. The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness. (Romans 8:16; Matthew 5:16; Romans 5:12-21) Through Christ we come into a right relationship with God, our sins are forgiven, and we receive eternal life.

4. We believe that all believers are entitled to, and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the baptism in the Holy Spirit. With it comes the endowment of power for life and service. This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the salvation experience. (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-8; 10:44-46; 11:7-9, 14-16; I Corinthians 12:1-31)

5. We believe that God has called us to be and to make disciples of Jesus Christ and to be God’s agents of love and reconciliation in the world. In keeping with the teaching of Jesus, we seek peace and justice in human relationships and social structures. (Mark 16:15, 20; Ephesians 4:11-13; I John 2:6; I Peter 3:15-16)

6. We believe in the church as the people of God, composed of all who believe in Jesus Christ, who support and equip each other through worship, teaching and accountability, who model Gods’ loving community and who proclaim the Gospel to the world. (Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:22, 4:11-13; Hebrews 12:23)

7. We believe in divine healing. Deliverance from sickness has been provided by Jesus Christ through his suffering, crucifixion and shedding of blood. Healing is available to all believers according to God’s divine purposes. (Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17)

8. We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ, in the resurrection of the dead, in God’s judgment of all persons with perfect justice and mercy, and in eternal reward and punishment. (Romans 11:26-27; II Thessalonians 1:7, I Thessalonians 4:16-18; Titus 2:13-14; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; Revelation 19:11-14, 20:1-7, 10-15; II Peter 3:13)
